Work work..
Ok it was morning and we had a meeting with the DOS (Duty Orderly Sergeant). Den came the question. "Who first time cos?", i raised my hand. "OK, 1,2,3,4 flag party", den came the HUH!. Conversations... den came the reply "but we haven't done before and we don't know the procedure!"
To my horror, we will be flag party for both the flag lowering and the next day flag raising. OMG balls shrink.. So the day went by, with me doing the cookhouse duties for lunch and den a bit of dinner. It was rather smooth-sailing. Moment of truth: flag lowering time has arrived. With just 5 mins of preparation and some previous experiences, the 4 newbirds just went ahead with the flag lowering.
The ceremony started, we balls-shrinked fast marched to the flag pole. Do the neccessary preparation, music start. Balls still shrinked, lowered the flags and drap it over our shoulders. At this moment, we folded the flags. A smiley face fold for the flag ensued and we were alright. I was almost in deep shit as the flag seem to be sliding off my shoulder. After the ceremony ended, Balls Unshrink LOL.
OK the Continued portion:
Due to the uncomfortable continuous usage of balls shrink now i shall use the state of anxiety.
After sleeping in the air-con office, on the uncomfortable but better than nothing foldable field bed, i woke up feeling kind of tired from the lack of sleep and the improper positioning of my feet due to the boots. Our feet's natural position is abt 45 degrees. However ,with boots on, its either straight up or flat out. As such, my feet feels kinda sore.
Round 2 of anxiety attack. Early morning, and its time for flag raising. This time i am still pulling the flag which give me the least responsibility, though its still a lot. While the flag raiser of the state flag has changed. The DOS was kind enough to relieve the previous flag raiser from suffering another anxiety overdose.
Once again the flag raising ceremony was a very nervous situation for us. When we finish raising the flag, gone is our anxiety and the adrenaline is no longer produced. WRONG! Now we have to fear if it will somehow drop to half mast in mid-day lol. Ok u can say we are paranoid but it did happen before. My flag's knot was not exactly the most secure.. so it was quite dangerous. Thankfully no, it survived the fast winds that blew throughout the day.

Kinda Gloomy
CY - Dun worry spas are my friends there's no need to hide from them. I won't blame u.
I just got the answer yesterday and i can handle the fact that its not going to happen. I do not blame her as a relationship requires both people to be happy for it to happen. From what i infer, there are other things she had in mind before even considering whether she wanted a relationship. There are some things that she can't let go of and i am sure that she had her reasons.
I am obviously better as a friend and i rather have her as a good friend than lose the friendship. The time spent with her has definitely not been waste of time. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent. I feel that our explanation to each other havent been very clear, its like downplaying the situation to the point because I rather have her as a friend then lose the friendship. But its also better to not informed of some of the reasons. Ignorance is bliss.
Time will heal all wounds as many dramas always remind us. It is a slow process... The times when I used to think of her, the person i want to see when i feel unhappy, the person I think of during the most difficult times. My nearest and most recent objective in life. Now all these will have to change.
One of the best friends i can turn to when i am feeling sad. A friend who is willing to listen to my complains and be there for me. A friend who i can be comfortable to go out with. And one of my best female friends. Life sucks when events like these happens. But then again, when it havent started its much easier to end it. I am glad I seeked an answer, such that it didn't drag too long till it becomes a problem.
I have lost a direction in life for now, but i am sure i will gain a new one in time to come.

Long weekend? Why does it still feel so short?
The short 1 week at work has made me understand how to behave more ike a sergeant. As the saying goes, sergeants practically spend all their time interacting with the recruits, while officers do most of the admin work. As such, we also see all the good, the bad and the ugly of our men. I am currently taking an intake with low education levels and i was actually quite surprised it is not as bad as i thought.
Well, they can understand english, not totally Hokkien Peng. Or i suppose, they act like they know what we are saying even though they do not understand. The first 2 week, we are always up there at their bunks doing standardisation for standbys. At first i thought the more educated ones are more prone to be blur. E.G. Zw once told me this story of a supposedly damn smart RJ student. "Er sergeant, got manual to strip and assemble rifle?" But no, there are also those who are damn blur or act blur, huh? among the less educated.
Why i say they blur? They never seem to be able to follow instructions even when i REPEAT, give 1 step by 1 step instructions. Or maybe they just refuse to listen to instructions of which they should be duly punished after a proper investigation ^_^.
Thankfully, they are generally streetsmart and don't 得纯进尺 too much. I believe we have been good sergeants as we try to leave them alone as much as possible.
Admin time is admin time, do away with all the formalities and we can talk. Training time is when we demand them to meet our standards. They do have many different attitudes and i need to treat each of them differently. Some of them had attitude problems, thinking this is their grandpa's army. But by the end of the 2nd week, i can see a remarkable improvement in some of their attitudes. Is it because of the fear of confinement? Haha.
Soon i will have to return to the line of duty. Haiz. As a sergeant or a recruit we still look forward to bookouts. Isn't it ironic? Haha.

More updates!
Next up was listening to zw's raging and battered soul from all the shit he suffered in 1SIR. From what he said, i could sense the despair and disappointment he had. He definitely did not have a good time. Ok, so we ate some prata and while our ears took the beating, it was actually kinda funny sia. Zw had this uncanny ability to turn serious stuff into funny stories and with such passion and realism when telling his stories, it wasn't as dry as lectures at the very least.
Although we are all freaking tired, it was a nice chill out nonetheless. How often can we come out like that? Not anytime soon again i guess especially my schedule sucks.
TODAY
Went out spasing to watch golden compass and ate at cafe cartel. It was relatively productive to me leh, we had quite some fun. Although jinhe appeared out of the blue and wanted to watch the show too, resourceful cy helped her get the tickets. It was quite an amazing feat sia, so late and yet we got to the movie in time.
Skipped lunch due to everyone being late, ended up having hi-tea. That was quite a bad decision, as i was rather full still when i joined my family to a buffet at Carlton. Oh yes, edwin failed NAPFA again! If he continues like this, life will suck quite bad for him to go through the PTP bmt phase. However, he injured himself quite bad during his test yest. Limping around quite sadly sia.
Ok after they went Hagen daaz, I went to carlton hotel for buffet dinner together with my family. It cost about $40/person but i think it is quite a good deal considering the food was quite gd. Movenpick ice-cream wor. With my not so full stomach, i escalated the threat level to threat-con bloated. Ok, with heavy protein loading, i ended my dinner and headed home.

UPDATES!
I was really glad that ASLC was over, POP LO! Throws Beret skyward, catch it precisely when it is about the touch the floor. Yeah, can go to the reception to see all the sisters, cousins, friends n girlfriends especially when we just displayed our manliness during the parade. (o.0!) Seriously, it is just so overwhelming when we finished our parade, we were so proud of ourselves. Proud of the amount of time and effort we invested in the rehearsals to make the nice to see. I have yet to see the video my dad recorded, but it should be pretty impressive!
But all is not over! Finishing ASLC is not the end. It is not even the end of the beginning. But it is perharps the beginning of the end. LIKE REAL! I am posted to BMTC on the tropical island tekong. So far, i just finished the main gist of the course. I have visited my Dragon company line and so far so good, dats what i can see from the brief meeting.
However, the main problem is, it is the course is very dry and boring. I try to absorb as much as i can, but theory is quite difficult to translate into words. Well, we can only try out and see for ourselves whether what the course taught is useful. I really want to take the new recruits who have came, but i dun want the responsibility yet, at least not now.
Sunday will have to book in again.. ready to be confined next week. Together with the poor recruits. The OC sounded really glad to see us there, ready to confine us. However, thanks to the directive set by our course commander, we had our backsides covered and can repel any duties directed at us. When our liason sergeant told us about the ultimate saikang shield, we were so happy, shouting for joy.
As such, we ended our friday on a damn happy note.

POP is imminent
However, this parade will feature drills that are not even seen in the NDP. So, for our own honour, glory and pride i guess we have to go through this phase.
Saturday, 20 October 2007
D-day has come
"NO GOOD! NO GOOD! WE WILL DO IT AGAIN",the School Sergeant Major's (SSM) voice blasts through the parade square. As with any drill lessons, we must be disciplined and our attire must be up to the standard. "YOU'RE RUSHING! YOU'RE RUSHING! SLOW DOWN!", these words remind me of a semula (back to previous position) dreadful, but nonetheless we must comply. All we can think of is to quickly finish it and back to rest we go. "AH YOU'RE GETTING IT, GOOD GOOD!", a sigh of relief.
Squeezing all those stuff into our duffle bag is no easy task, though possible its a laborious task. We unpacked and repacked many times to take things out, and to make sure everything fits. CURSES! how to fit 2x1.5L water bottles into the bag which is bursting at its seams. "HOW HOW HOW!" echoes throughout the bunk. Ok ultimately I was able to squeeze 2x boots 2x 1.5L waterbottle and everything else. This made me worried, why i can do it others cannot did i miss out something? It is seriously worrisome. Anything i didn't put inside certainly means i am in for some deep shit. Its scary.
I will be going away for 3 weeks, so i will update again when i'm back ^_^.

Grand Slam II is over but its just the beginning.
It is not end. It is not even the end of the beginning. It is perharps the beginning of the end.
A phrase my PC always says: Everything has an end gentlemen, so lets get through this, its not as bad as you think.
And another of his pet phrases : You all F***ing C***B** better do the steps correctly, understand or not. Its more complicated than this but we just do it methodically understand?
Grand Slam II wasnt as bad as i thought it would be as my PC is more interested in how we do our contact drills instead of how to dig trenches, so we were spared the agony of digging the whole thing out. However, i was not spared the RAIN. Argh! Rain is the cause of ALL misery! It is the worst element of nature you can encounter outfield. In fact, all will be fine if we are indoors (-_-).
So it was mission after mission with sleepless nights and screwed up sleeping clocks. However, it is still possible, it can be done.

Another week is over with some gripes yet belittled by wats coming next
Thanks to my PC's meticulous planning, i was able to book out straight from tekong and rush home, catch some sleep (no matter how insignificantly little) before proceeding to my ceremony. And of course thanks to my parents for being there at the slightest notice that i was booking out. Not to mention my sectionmates who have to bear the burden of carrying my HEAVY stuff back from tekong. I felt really bad having to trouble them with my load when they themselves have their own and everyone was thoroughly shagged.
The ceremony was so damn long sia. Ok everyone was given their due recognition and some people whent up to give their very long speeches, took some photos and the tea party is over. Maybe i am describing it so briefly cuz i found it boring (-_-). But anyways, being able to book out is already a privilege. Ok now that i am a gold awardee, i must act like one (o.0) as there are many others out there who deserve this too.
NEXT UP, GRAND...GRAND...GRAND SLAM! ka boom. II. Yes Grand Slam II. The sequel to my Grand Slack with a ten fold increase in shiongness. So far our pc has been happy with our performance and we have yet to piss him off. So i hope it will be the same at the upcoming field camp. It will be 4D3N of digging, attacking and shaggness. The weather has not been kind these 2 days which made me fear for my own dryness during grand slam 2. I was wondering y heaven is so unkind to fry me when i am in camp when i wish for cooler weather and drenching me, tormenting my abrasions when i am outfield. What to do? SUCK THUMB!

Woo we finally have company!
When we were at the bunk "slacking" waiting for our lecture to start, we saw them streaming to their coyline slowly. Some excited trainees naturally shouted "WELCOME TO SISPEC! WOOOHOOO! Clap Clap Clap". Go back inside commanded a sergeant from the other company. Of course we comply right? So we sneakily spyed on them from inside our bunks.
My bunk overlooks the place where they always gather after eating before marching off. My sectionmates feel awkward that there are always people staring at them when changing or hanging clothes lol. Exposed!
Hmm, after a few days of surveying, i realise that their life is quite sad as compared to ours. This batch they had people who did not pass IPPT, and its quite a lot of them. For those who have poor physical fitness, it will be really terrible to keep up with the training. They have pt every morning, something which we seldom do. Haiz they are really suffering sia. I never had such long 5BXs (5 body exercises to wake u up in the morning) in the morning before.
But of course WE ASLC TRAINEES ARE SUFFERING too! Always outfield, i never seem to see my coyline much. It seems to be planned that way. To let the BSLC people think that our training is very shiong. And it indeed is. However, they don't really see us run SOC cuz they came in at week 4 of our course. I remember when i saw the ASLC last time, they were running SOC like siao. But i think outfields will have a greater impact on them.
This week was quite bing bing biang biang over le. It was ironically the week with the most life firings. So that lingo really fits. It feels long and yet kinda short, dunno how to explain but i am just relieved that i booked out.
OK forecast for next week, 32km route march and some fast march? Seems relatively slack, yet that single powerkiller is sufficient reason to grant us a slacker week. And i will go for the nyaa award ceremony in zombie form. Having not slept the night before enduring the gurelling march with "mental tenacity and determination". Damn CSB get it over and done with.
Sunday, 23 September 2007
The hell of ASLC has started.
The pace of training will be substantially increased. With most of the Combat Skills Badge(CSB) components done, physical activities are potentially going to cease and outfields take over.
Next week i have 3 days of consecutive outfields. But 2 days are in build up areas. I heard that we will be shooting life rounds. So i guess it will be tiring but still fun.
More will be coming in the oncoming weeks.. time to start suffering already..

Happy Birthday to zw who just turned 19
As always, my coy is not very efficient. But it was quite reasonable for the recent live firing and navigation exercise. We completed the live firing faster than the other company but somehow slept later, which was not that gd =(. I was quite suprised that we were dispatched in waves back to coyline during the navigation exercise. The navigation exercise was the epitome of efficiency in my opinion. The earlier you finished the exercise, the faster you get to sleep.
Ok so i dragged home on sat and did stuff very slowly and inefficiently. I digged for wrappers to wrap zw's present. Oops, the present was too big for a single wrapper, so please forgive the poor wrapping. Inexperienced wrapper, so i shall train more in future.
Going out today to TCC in citylink was quite fun. We all talked a lot, spent a lot and hogged the seats for a long long time lol. We stayed there from like 7 till 10pm. The turnout today was surpisingly good and i seriously hope spas group will continue to meet up in future. I am sure that everyone enjoyed themselves today.

On going (Standard Obstacle Course) SOC at sispec.
To book out according to the schedule, you must not miss any physical training, (confirm make up 1) and pass with flying colours in the physical criterias that are veto factors to pass the course.
Some examples timings we must score:
Standard Obstacle Course (SOC) 9:29 to book out/9:59 to pass
IPPT (Fitness Test like Napfa but tougher) 2.4km 9:44
10km Endurance Run 60min
Our training schedule is very physically demanding and enough to kill us already. My OC is happy to explain that we must do route marches often to get used to the weight of the field pack. "GENTLEMEN, you will need to extra fitness as your field pack will be heavier than what it is currently" He will not indent transport when we come back from field camp site. WTF. Field camp is BAD enough already. Shagged already still want to push us somemore. Doesn't he know that muscles need to recover?
Outfield training is shiong, as everyone knows it. Even better, its imperative to do our drills properly, and they will be demanding a lot from us here. As such, BUY KNEE GUARD...HIGH KNEEL.. PRONE.. CASERVAC. I definitely will live through this crazy period. Its just that i can't mentally adapt to this yet. CRAZY CRAZY!
How many people OOC (out of course)? Actually i am quite suprised that its still relatively little. I was expecting massive OOCs. But people seems to be afraid of the sai-kang that they will get also. I also want to OOC but not injured enough. That doesn't mean that i should get injured just to OOC. I still want to get out alive and in 1 piece.

Wondering y my previous post so short?
Life is short and so is the ASLC course. Why does everyone want to avoid it? Cuz its the most advertised course in BSLC, come to think of it its just a change of B to A. Even though there are other more jia lat courses, why does everyone just hate ASLC? Cuz we can see with our own eyes how many outfields they have, erm bunk = resort? ASLC has the most co-relation with BSLC and we can see the stuff we do in BSLC being done worse in ASLC.
Hence, psychologically we are disturbed. Being in a shiong company, sent more jolts down our spine and also up to our head.
Reminder by previous batch: Knee Guard, you will need it. Yes i am sure i rather protect myself than get the SAF compensation.
Oh yes thanks to the Cpl who likes SAR21 so much, the security at my camp is such a pain now. Kaoz for nothing kena delay 10 min for checks. Btw he reach CPL = responsible for his own actions liao not anyone else fault wat. Why must we suffer for his actions too? An isolated case not equals to everyone must suffer right? Haiz from hero to zero...

The end of BSLC to DELTA ASLC.
March from leaders square => detour => ocs training shed => ntu => tp2 => reverse sequence. Do this 3 times and whola 28km completed!. This route is seriously boring. Going through NTU wasnt that fun either. We go through the ulu side or i suppose of NTU. And i think they purposely set it so late so we will be seen by less people. However, we still had some spectators, in particular construction workers from a china firm opposite the wee kim wee building (o.0) they are the ones most interested in what we are doing.
Ok we did see some people during the march and had some fun during the 1st time we march past NTU. Mark my words 1st time ONLY. Its freaking boring. I think too long never do route march le, 16km i already feel like dying. I was already limping due to blisters on my toes from 20km point. Almost had cramps, but no abrasions thankfully. The weird thing was, the faster we march, the easier it was to move forward on my almost uncontrollable legs.

BSLC.. the end is near
So exercise Grand Slam became known as Grand slack, as in between missions we have approximately 2h of rest time. Many people slept during the 2 hours after they hastily consumed their lunch or dinner. It gave us time to recharge after we did those tiring drills. We usually have 8 hours of sleep and field camps is when you sleep the most. How i wish we have a schedule in camp that is equals to that of field camp. Life will be so fun.
The navigation exercise was very tiring though. The weather is hot and we travel about 20km in that day going about our exercise. It was not a very good start for field camp when everyone is utterly exhausted. When i reach the end point, i just felt like collapsing there and snore away. It was a good experience though, it was difficult to find the checkpoints as the map is so old that new tracks appear and old tracks disappeared. The map certainly helped in our navigation (like real).
There was 1 group which was quite a joke. My group was following a drain and going south to our end point. We were smart enough to follow the drain which we would otherwise need to bash through a thickly vegetated swamp. When we were reaching the road, we heard sounds of chopping, branches snapping.. in that inaccessible swamp. So my team was like.. omg luckily we decided to detour a little and continue to follow the drain instead of bashing through the forest. The group later appeared at the end point, with 1 guy thoroughly wet (maybe he fell into the swap). Phew, heng ar.

OOC strike is imminent take cover! OOC strike avoided.. at least till further notice
Heng here not OCS. I heard OCS is really serious abt such stuff. But 2 weeks at home, and I return to training, it is seriously very difficult to adapt back to army life. But i am glad, things that I missed in 2 weeks can be recovered within 4 days. AMAZING isn't it? This is how efficient army can become! And when its RT, you get special attention! Less people = better learning. WOW.
Anyways, i went back to MO last friday, expecting more att c because i thought i havent recover yet. Ok you recovered already, that is just dried blood give it a week or 2 and it will disappear. You can go back company line now. HUH! oh my i am not prepared yet. My holiday has ended.. haiz. And straight into field camp sia.
However, this field camp is much better than BMT in my opinion and its agreed by many others. We learn more stuff. Less tekaning and more learning. I love training like that. But one thing remains. DIRT + RAIN + WET WET. Weather sux these days. Everytime rain. Luckily on the third day it rained after our training was over just before lunch and we rush back to shelter. However, noone's bags are spared from the fury of the rain. Many people are drenched saving their bags. It is very easy to get sick in those situations.
Stupid lor, during the first few weeks when we are in camp, it doesn't rain. Then days when we are outfield, it rain like hell. Freak weather. Stop discharging those CO2 plz. Outfield best is no rain. Rain and everything becomes miserable. I am sure everyone agrees.
1 down, 2 more camps to go. Although morale damn low, everything is almost over already. Chiong ar! Halfway through le. Get it over and done with.

How how how.. Att C reaches 2 weeks.
Everyone and i mean everyone who had sore eyes all recover le. I am still slammed att c one after another. I won't say this is bad. Its anyone's dream to slack at home and be exempted from training. The only problem is that this is definitely helping me to get closer towards OOC.
I am quite certain my fate is decided. I will not be spared the chopping board. How can i who miss training so much not get OOC? It is unfair to the others it seems, but i dun want to waste all the time i have spent so far. Also, i don't want to spend the next 5 weeks doing nothing but sai kang.
Recourse an option? I wonder if they will give it to me. Anyway, i will lose $600 in allowance over the 3 months at least. Hmm a bit to pay for being at home ba.. i guess.
Tuesday, 17 July 2007
Wah lao so many days of att C i am going to OOC
NONONONONONONO dun waste my 4 weeks... NONONONO i must recover!
If i OOC will either do sai kang for some time until next batch of bslc, or get posted to combat unit or (impossible) clerk work.
He is certified unfit for duty 17/7/07 to 20/7/07 inclusive.
Excuse camo cream 17/7/07 to 2/8/07 inclusive.
... I like excuse camo but if OOC wats the use? KAO!

Ouch.. bacterial conjungivitis (sore eyes)
It started with the right eye and somehow it spread to the left eye. My friends who got it too said that you better pray that it spreads fast so you don't have to suffer so long with one eye still infected and the other alright. Since it is so contagious, i have to quarantine myself from my family members. I bought this rinse free antibacterial hand wash to protect everyone lol.
Edwin says when he got this infection, his eyes cannot even open. Mine is open but its constricted and its blood shot red. Cyclops? Haha. My eyes are stablising already though they still hurt. Dryness is the no.1 reason for pain. I hope by Sunday i will recover fully, but judging by my cyclops eyes it will take quite some time.

Why always tok abt army stuff?
I realise guys and girls are starting to be segregated when talking thanks to army. But there are so much to ask and take note of before when going into the army, so bear with the army stuff that we have to ask others and please understand us.
WHY I BLOG ABOUT ARMY? I have no life la! But anyway wat would i talk abt when i am not in the army? Computer games, com stuff, probably uni stuff soon. So actually its just topics only. But that already makes a big difference i guess.
So here goes, I did soc 1, the easier course. It was hell easier then the UPSIZED soc 2 course. I did 1 full soc + 2 Obstacle clearing run. That was quite shag le. But the first run i did 10:49 which i require 10:29 to pass. So i guess i can do better.
Sispec isn't shiong in the sense of over imposing unrequired regimentation, but SIAO training.

So life goes on..
Btw, for those in SISPEC, take note that the SOC course 2 is a darn upsize of SOC in tekong sia. I went there and was HUH! are you sure the low wall so high? Balancing beam so big steps? Horizontal beam so HIGH? it was suppose to be knee level, here is almost waist sia. SIAO.. Welcome to the land of the Giants.
Of course i am doing much better than those who went to OCS, where they have outfields like nobody's business. So should i still think to cross over? I wonder.

POP LO!
"When u have to come tekong you don't want to come. But when u have to leave tekong then you all don't want, then wat the F you all want?" This are my CSM exact words. I must say i will miss this pervertic but humourous guy who always seeks to make our training more fun with his out of point remarks.
At least during POP the weather was forgiving. Rain like hell in the morning, which i suppose the morning batch had a POC instead. As for us the afternoon, the rain relented and we were given sunny weather. During the parade however, cloud cover was quite good and we did not receive the full dose of UV as what we did during rehearsals. So it was perfect, minus a few cock-up during the run ins.
We were cursing the weather just before the parade as we were afraid that we would have a POC instead of POP, which will render all our rehearsals to nought. We cannot accept a pussy pes C POC. I still remembered, 1 night before our POP when pegasus had their POC. 1 guy ran down and shouted "PES A pussies! POC LO!" So we thought, he's insulting himself isn't it? Pes C instead of A and POC. I guess there's nothing to feel pissed about this stupid bugger.
So everything is over and I now have a holiday, probably I will just game my days away, weekends go out with friends and probably tidy up my room a bit for my bro to use. Chances are, I will go Sispec instead of OCS as i wasn't that outstanding after all. So i shall accept that fate and receive less shit than i will probably get from OCS.
24KM Route March
This is one hella route march. Although its just 8km more than the previous 16km, it felt like eternity. I was able to do 12km quite easily, but after dinner when we continue the rest of the journey, it was like hell. They were fast marching in the dark from old sispec to the furthest FUP (form up point) where we have our 16km point in total darkness. We marched past the legendary FIBUA (fighting in built-up area) village where i saw nothing unusual, but people swear by its horrors.
There, i saw the most stars in the skys in my life for the 3rd time. First was at mawai, second was at bintan and third ROUTE MARCH!?!? quite a weird place to be enjoying stars. After that, we began the march back to old sispec for the 20km point. It felt much faster despite the slower pace, perception of relativity (o.0). In front, there was suppose to be a company, but they fast marched and soon we lost sight of them. By the time we reached old sispec, the 1st company was on the way to march back to camp already. But we were not really that slow anyway.
So we ended the march in high spirits, singing the whole of the 4km left with our platoon sergeant leading songs for like 2km. Everyone was freaking exhausted and cramping all over. I guess that we really needed to sing to complete the march. Some people were limping since 12km thx to abrasion, blisters and other injuries. I really admire their determination to complete the rest of the march. Of course we were encouraging each other. But wat PS said was the most correct, if you don't sing people will start falling out. The last 4km was freaking fast fast march. where we were rushing to close up with the first company.
My legs felt like dying since 16km already. But singing really helps to push ourselves on. I was glad that i didn't get abrasion and cramps. But i swear, another 2km i would have been up the safety vehicle already. One thing i wonder most, did the girls complete the march? Some companys did not put ET blade and stick, which is a good 2kg off the load of the bag. HELL, my company had everything inside. I was glad that we finished with full load, now there is something to hao lian about.
Bye tekong, bye platoonmates, bye my old self.

1 week till end of BMT
Although cy warned me against joining the drill squad due to the loss of my own precious admin time, i dumbly decided to join. I see joining drill squad as an indication of my commitment to army and that would probably help me secure a place in OCS if not, sispec.
Learning the fancy drill is what i really wanted. And, as the training progresses, the better the drill squad becomes, the prouder i am. The results affirms the sanity of my decision to join drill squad.
12 June will be my POP and that will signify the end of BMT. An end to a chapter in my army life. I wonder if i will be happy or sad to leave BMT. Of course there are some assholes around.. but there are also others who are nice people to know.
24km graduation route march will be coming soon and that will be the official end of BMT + POP.

Ah 1/2 of BMT is over..
It really is a bother carry things around in a large bag which makes it difficult for us to manuver around. But we have no choice do we? So much laundry, items to bring back and items to buy. This time i booked out in a duffle bag with a cargo of field pack and load bearing vest (LBV, the SBO replacement). These items are full of sand which i am so desperately trying to get rid of once i reach home to wash them.
Oh yar, sand comes from field camp. I just had field camp from 12/5/07(SAT) to 17/5/07(THUR).
FIELD CAMP
I was quite suprised that generally, field camp is quite slack. We generally sleep at 2300 and wake fall in at 0615. Of course, the guai me will wake earlier at abt 0530 to prepare my stuff. We sleep in the forest, where we set-up basha as tents. The first 3 nights we sleep in the basha, but the last 2 nights in a shellscrape. Camoflage is standard attire and it is on my face for 6 days. After field camp you no longer feel such a bother putting on the camo already.
What is shellscrape? It is basically a "grave" you dig for yourself, where you have to fit in a rather large fieldpack + you. Such that when you hide inside, they cannot see you from ground level. This reduces casulties by up to 60% during artillary strikes, thus it is important to DIG IT! Mind you, it is hell difficult to dig. With the small entrenching tool issued to us, it took me 2 hours to dig a usable 1 and 4 hours total to make it up to standard. They say that we can do it in 45mins? CRAZY!
Day 1
We march from our company line (basically our bunks), past old SISPEC and reach old BMTC sch 2. That compound was last used when policemen wore shorts... wow. Ok we reached there damn shagged after the 8km route march with the hell heaviest fieldpack we carried so far. After some rest, its time to start lessons and we started with urban training at the compound. It is generally quite slack, as our sergeant gave "sit down, helmets off" quite oftenly and we only practised for a short while.
Soon, it was lunch time and we opened our first field ration (green pack) to eat. Suprisingly, it does not taste all that bad. I will say from my experience, pasta and glutinous rice tastes the most edible. Weirdly, most of the flavours of pasta taste the same and it is similar for rice. So it must be the taste of food flavouring + chemical. We explored the filed rations and took our some powdered drinks to make drinks. Of course, we just pour the powder into our mouths and drink some water, mix it and swallow the water.
After lunch, its time to rush to the campsite, situated about 1km away from the old BMTC sch 2 on ROCKY HILL. We have to climb the bloody hill sia. Sian, u have to visualise about 20kg of shit on u and climb abt 70m vertically with about 200m inclined slope. It is hell tiring. Feeling ultimately shagged, we are now dispatched our campsite to set up our basha.
After setting up basha, its time for dinner + powder bath. Wats powder bath? Its when u dun bathe but pour powder on yourself from head to toe and i mean lots of it. It does make you more comfortable la, but u are still dirty.. ironical? Soon its nightfall and time for rountine orders and den sleep.
Day 2
Woke up feeling damn uncomfortable sleeping the the basha which is slightly damp thanks to morning dew. I woke up like 5-6 times last night and changed positions, the soil is quite hard to sleep on. Chiong outside in vest-slack to participate in the 5BX-2km run, which involves running down and UP the hill again. My leg muscles cursed at the stressful shit thrown at them.
Ok finished exercise and changed into long-4 + LBV + Helmet + AR-15 and we had breakfast. Milo 3-in-1 + dog biscuits. Then its time to march back to the old BMTC sch 2 for urban training. Today we try out in 3s to cross safely pass a door, window and how to secure a room. It involves the use of grenades... rapid movement and firing of rifles. And its break for lunch.
Now its the fun part, we were issued 50 blanks to firing in the afternoon, where we have a practical session to shoot targets placed in the room. BANG BANG BANG! So many rounds to fire. So are practically playing around. When i just finished my turn, A HEAVY DOWNPOUR! OMG MY BASHA! must be flooded.. Everyone is now very worried about the state of their basha.
When we get back to camp, i am suprised to see my basha standing with minimal damage. While others have collapsed and flooded bashas. How can i not feel happy that i am so lucky? =) The trees sure sheltered our bashas from the direct attack of nature. So i am able to sleep in dry uniform without any problem tonight.
Day 3
Urban training is over, and field training in the forests have started. Today we came face to face with flora and fauna for the first time, instead of buildings. In the morning, we have 5BX + 2.5km run. It was hell shag man, we had not recovered from the march + physical activities.
We are issued more blanks to aid our training. We learn how to try and take over an enemy position. This day, we have to prone on the dirty forest floor. Move in 3s and move tatically in battle formation. They issue us so many blanks, that in the afternoon, each person have to finish up over 120 rounds. HAHA. So we just fired and have fun. The day ends quickly and slackly with some bearable traces of soil and dead matter on my uniform.
Day 4
Today, we collapse our basha and get ready to dig shellscrapes. Luckily no run today to add to the hell we going to get later. HOWEVER, there was a morning DOWNPOUR AGAIN. Now that we are wet and dirty all over.. we have to dig the shellscrape.
I gave up trying to keep myself and the LBV clean after my kind sergeants gave me some serious punishment. push-up.. crunches.. jumping jacks.. blar blar. AH HECK! just dig la, since whole body full of sand already. Most people dig quite fast. However, there must always be some people who have no motivation to dig fast and keep complaining.. sian to hear them talk so much and do nothing. ZZZ
Seriously, they had planned punishments la... after my platoon got punished, the other platoons also get the same punishments... same reasons... same amount. Wth, no need to get us dirty like that la.
Ok, fortunately it was re-sup day, and we got a clean set of uniform to change into. But the damage is done la, now we so dirty le, powder bath le still full of sand.
Day 5
Battle course! We had 5BX-Run again, and had battle course in the morning. It basically is we walk along the road and the sergeants will "spring" on us and tell us there are enemies. We are suppose to engage the "enemies" and clear them. This is the test of the stuff we learnt on day 3.
We fired even more blanks while going through the stations. By this time, we are feeling quite worried about the carbon build-up in the rifles due to shooting blanks. My team cleared the battle course without a trouble. Thats good, cuz its freaking tiring also.
We spend the afternoon touching up and digging our shellscrape. What the hell, field camp is really waste of time sia. We always spend time doing stupid useless stuff. The field camp is 6 days instead of 4 and we have 8 shit holes. It is GUARANTEED to overflow as the shitholes are not even enough for a 4 day camp. Of course, some people never cover the shit well and we all get 1xBIG TIME. And we go punished so seriously that some people cannot take it, almost faint, had asmatha and shortness of breath.
Day 6
It is FINALLY time to go back. Woke up early to cover up the shellscrape. Sergeant was pleased with how well we covered up our shellscrape actually, so we basically had very high morale. We loaded the field packs onto the tonner to bring back to camp and marched towards the BATTLE INNOCULATION COURSE (BIC).
We were given as mission by the CSM to reach the BIC ground as soon as possible so company will be the first to finish the BIC today. Of course, we made it and everyone prepared for BIC. During BIC our OC allowed us to remove most of the obstacles on the LBV. It was a relief for us, as some pouches are really very obstructive.
In the BIC we have to leopard crawl, back crawl under LIFE rounds, with electric thunderflash exploding around us. Somehow, the GPMGs keep getting IA and throughout the course, it was rather quiet actually. It was easier than i thought to clear the course, although my uniform was full of sand again from the crawl. I was physically worn out, but still i felt satisfied finishing it.
Now i have alot of sand inside my sleeves and believe me, it is damn uncomfortable. My elbows are sore from the crawlings + the abrasion caused by the sand on my skin almost made my elbows bleed. Well, no pain no gain, it is definitely an experience to remember... machine guns are cool to play with.. but not cool to carry.
After the BIC we have to "check clear" the rifles and declare that we have no ammunition left on us, be it accidental or deliberate. So.. I.. NRIC, RANK/NAME, HEREBY DECLARE THAT I DO NOT HAVE ANY BLANKS, AMMUNITION, THUNDERFLASH, AND OTHER FORMS OF PYROTECHNICS IN MY POSSESSION SIR! Den they check us. Ok its quite a dumb procedure which u can get away with easily, but y take the chance? So i being guai again, will not break the rules.
END OF FIELD CAMP!
We headed back to camp on a tonner driving F1, and we were thrown around like balls in the back of the truck. Back at camp, we have lots of washing to do. ESPECIALLY cleaning the stupid rifle which is now so full of carbon from the firing of blanks.
Overall, field camp is fun, BUT i will never want to do it again. Every field camp is definitely uncomfortable to me. I am not being a wuss, but i hate field camp not due to the program but the sleeping conditions and dirt.

ARGH! book in le

Day 1 of bookout
In the past 2 close to 3 weeks, life has been difficult in the sense of meeting dead lines and keep going for physical exercises. My company didn't get push-ups until confinement was over, which was suprisingly good already, considering some units got punished before the confinement ends. So it is considered quite welfare.
In all welfare units, there are still times where you get punished la. Its just that, the rules are more lax and we get more free time if there are no programs. Either way, its just different ways to get things done. I did prefer a chiong sua unit compared to a welfare unit, as everyone has a common enemy and we will bond better and get things done better too.
Ok back to those dumb stuff, i have 1 guy in my platoon who is afraid of heights and always give that face with painful expression. We do buddha claps and twinkle twinkle little stars too, its kinda the favourite sport of the guys in my platoon. When we have no pt to do, we always do buddha claps and twinkle twinkle little stars as a form of endurance exercise. This guy will die half-way while we are doing it and its super funny.
When we had Standard Obstacle Course training, we have to jump off a 1.8m platform, and this guy had height phobia lol. We got stuck at that station lol. His phobia made it difficult to complete the subsequent SOC stations too. However, he did conquer his fear ultimately and completed all the obstacles.

Adios Amigos... Tekong's waving to me
I have packed according to the list, and probably more than i even need to. Haiz no time to add too much this post le... So a quick goodbye to my blog and readers.
Sunday, 8 April 2007
April 9, i am going to lose some of my friends to Tekong
At the age of 18 or 19, it is customery in spartapore for the boy to be separated from his parents and thrown into a world of violence. Manufectured for over 40 years, the spartapore warrior society created the finest civilian army the world has ever known. By punishment and physical training, the boy was taught to show no fatigue, no mercy. Constantly tested, tossed into tekong, left to pit his wit and will against the jungle's fury. It was his initiation, his time in Tekong, that he will return to his people as a soldier.
The commando mosquitos begin to circle to boy, syringe of black steel, burned as dark night, eyes glowing red, jewels from the pit of hell itself. The commando mosquitos sniffing, savouring the scent of the meal to come. Its not fear that grips him, only a heightened sense of things. The warm air in his lungs, winswept rainforest trees moves against the calming night. His hands are steady, his form perfect (squishes the mosquitos with his rifle butt). And so the boy given up for dead returns to his people to sacred spartapore a soldier! Our Soldiers!
HAHA, if army was to be glorified like that of sparta, i'm sure singapore will be constantly at war.
I will be losing a few of my friends tomorrow, who will be thrown into tekong to pit their will against fatigue, muscle aches and of course mosquitos. And soon i myself will be thrown into tekong. But no worries, singapore's not sparta, at least i am sure of that. I would say the spartans are commandos, all of them. So good luck to those who are going in too, whoever they are.
I wonder what life will be like for me inside? I got colour deficiency so, signals is a nono for me, usage of night vision might be a problem to me too.
One thing that i am sure is, everyone will become muscular after going to tekong. For example, How Kiat's got chest.. 8 packs.. arms of steel.. anything that you can dream of (o.0)! Tomorrow will be my last post before this blog goes on a holiday too. So stay tuned... probably i will write abt my packing of stuff...

In honour of those whose days are numbered...
I have long expected life to be tough in the army. As they say, reach for the stars and land on the moon. In this case, expect hell to come and you will take the punishment in your stride. It is impossible to calm and remind myself, "Army = uniform group, just that it's a little tougher." And needless to say, I will be far away from any civilisation while I'm on that little island resort.
I shall be contributing to the "missing" 19 - 21 year olds who are always absent from the streets. Being botak is the trademark of army recruits and those in sispec courses. I definitely hope that i do not be a botak for more than 3 months. That is, either i remain a small fry, or i go to OCS. It is a lofty aspiration which is difficult to achieve, but i suppose its attainable.
Stories of misery, toughness of training and other complains have been circulating around. However, nothing disturbs me as much as the PARAnormal stuff. It is something that we don't usually encounter together nor are able to avoid. This is as opposed to physical punishments, which we can get used to the training and become fitter. Paranormal stuff is definitely no.1 on my list of worries. However, i believe that everything will be fine.
Well fiction aside, its now for facts. Starting from tomorrow, I HAVE ONLY ( 10 - 7 = 3 days) LEFT! 10 is not counted as a full day as i will only be enjoying 2 hours of my morning.

LAN party!
For the 1st day, xm and chin-i was here by early afternoon and we played some starcraft and company of heros, while i continue to get bugged by the stupid error when i play company of heros. I presume its the incompatibility between my stand in motherboard, its drivers and the game. It seems like the new games have a problem with the stupid motherboard. I just hope that my original motherboard comes back fast.
Zw tried to prank us and say he was still at ipoh at abt 5 plus. So i dumbly thought that he was speaking the truth... must be post-april fool's lameness. So we were cussing him ... until he suprised me when he reached my house on time. Ok so we can finally play mahjong with 4 people. But we decided to play CS and some Starcraft hero maps. The hero map took us ages to complete. However, upon completion i felt mighty pleased.
So we played mahjong until about 2am and later played a lurker defense game, somewhat like warcarft. Of course we played until sian den end the day lor.
The next day, XM complains that he could not sleep well due to "noise" but zw slept well through it. I'm kept away from the noise as i sleep in my room o.0. I am quite a light sleeper, i think i would have suffered the same fate as XM ba.. but i think xm a bit extreme, keep emphasising on "noise" but it is part and parcel of stay overs la. Ok, we intend to game more when we wake up, so more CS and company of heros. ZW seems to be hooked onto COH now too.
We want to go out to have brunch, but thanks to the rain we have to keep pushing it back. Thankfully, we got to the hawker centre in time before it closes. If not, we would have headed towards the prata house. After lunch, chin i decided to have a little fun in the playgound's rope obstacle. I was the only one who didn't climb up the obstacle o.0, i not children >12 years old, they are LOL.
When we get get back, they are still hooked onto the lurker defense game in starcraft, and zw finally won the game. So we headed on to watch movies. Sadly, xm has to go to see a movie, and chin i tml have to go for driving lessons tomorrow, so we have to end it before the stated date.
ZW was like, "OMG what am i going to do later." When people become a workaholic, i guess its difficult to like the life of a slacker again. ZW and XM even considered being free labour tomorrow since its those pep's last days at winsland house before they go to Paya Lebar. Since they are free on those days HSBC moves, maybe we can go out and meet? Hmm
Sunday, 1 April 2007
Another sunday passes... a step closer..
Ok, to take the issue away from my overloaded brain, i shall have lan gaming with xm, chin i, zw, from tomorrow till wed. All of us have pathetic computers, as such we can only play games that you heard before ages ago. The newest games simply pawn our computers. This is a SERIOUS issue! What games can we play? We must consider the specifications of each individual computer. What if some of us cannot play? Noone can be left out.
This weekend i have more or less followed cy's guide to BMT and bought the stuff that he recommended us to buy. Orange cloth, gutters, prickly heat powder, wet tissue..., cute little dog tag camoflauge cloth LOL. Medication is very important according to him. Tekong medicine works like a dud according to him. Or isit because of the conditions they live in? The tekong medicine is not strong enough? Where they get such lousy medicine.. expired?
ZZZ all da army stuff... I think i'm getting mental.

Should i miss the work i had so gladly ended last week?
Reading his blog about CJhee getting trashed up down left right... has caused me to feel happy for them. At last, he's getting screwed badly for his poor performance and usually useless additional stuff he adds to the programs to make them more difficult to use. OK la, i have to admit his character is basically a nice one, with no manners, no EQ, SUPPOSED high IQ, a deep thinker (coconut shell how deep? maybe thats y he er, ah.. train of thoughts echo when knocking off the shell.) Now isit still nice?
My condolences to ZW when they almost had to trial the sports car driver for roadkill and see the damages caused to the car by a sandbag which was at 0 velocity and the car at 60km/h. Heng, the driver dun have to send his car to the repair shop... if not need to pay alot noe! Ok lol, the top's a bit sadistic. Anyway, zw was damn lucky today.
Now i wonder whether i should go back to the office on friday for sightseeing and say hi to them.
Saturday, 24 March 2007
Goodbye kodak, HSBC and all the frills, stress and blah blah.
Now that slacker and i am gone, the workplace will become a much more boring and colder place. Although zw and xm still can talk to christopher, janice, vivien and shujuan, when they 2 leave, it will be aunties vs youngsters. The environment will be so different.
Now that i have left, it is time to adjust back to the slacking lifestyle that i had yearned for so much the past month, week, day, hours, minutes, second, millisecond, microsecond,..., nanosecond,...FULLSTOP. OK i'm just being lame.

Crazy schedules and crazy workloads, shagged.
What is so shiong about sorting the documents for Viven or Zw to scan you ask? Well, need to imagine a bit. The cases come at 8.30am, 11.30am, 2.30pm, 4pm and 5pm. Seems ok? While each case consists of average 30 documents each with 20-50 pages or more. Moreover, zw let me rot and do it alone from 4pm-5pm for about 50 documents. He is such an asshole sia right? YES agree with me!
His reason, " If i help you do these documents, it means that you can finish faster and i will have more backlog documents to scan!" So i was like (-_-!) and t(-_-)z .
But dun misunderstand la, i not angry this is just part and parcel of job life know? SIBEI SIAN AR, so must do some interesting stuff.
At 7pm or so, we recieved another pile of 50 or so documents, courtesy of Yvonne. Ok, i admit we complained for a while about the crazy workload. However, when we start doing and she came over and gave us some MINT chocolate, then all discontent was dispelled and we chionged through the documents. Although we still did not complete it, i can gladly say we did the best we could till 9pm. Tomorrow i shall continue the stack and rush through whatever that comes next.
Since the number of people coming to work is constantly decreasing and ceterius paribus, the production will fall and each of us get heavier workloads. However, Jenn has not been helpful to us. She will only interview people tomorrow and we hope that these people will not be those who cannot tahan the job requirements. So far, the permanent staff cannot even last more than 3 days, with 1 leaving after 1 day and the other after 2. I must say this job is too boring for people to take it with crazy hours.
FINALLY, tomorrow will be the last day for me. I can finally say GOODBYE to the crazy hours. It is a bit nostalgic to part with the friends i have known through work, but it is part and parcel of life. So for tomorrow, adios amigos i will remember the times we had.

Applied mathematics to daily life.
Let m = wednesday = 3
So the number of days left that i have to work = (n - m + 1) = (5 - 3 + 1 ) = 3 days left.
See how dumb can math be. But this fomula helped me to count the number of documents left that i have to do at work too.
Let n = 50 documents
Let m = 16 ( the document i just completed )
So if i do backwards starting from no.50, (50 - 16 + 1) = 35 documents done.
Heh discussing math fomulas can be fun when we end up confusing them with anything and everything else. So the short conversation about (n - m + 1) with xuming was rather fruitless lol.
Work work work, it isn't as bad as it was before, now that we are not really pressured to perform anymore. As compared to what others say about their experience of customer service, i think my job is comparatively better. Despite the menial work that i have to do.
After the recruitment drive by Jenn, i am convinced that this job is not meant for anyone. In fact, teenagers are the best candidates for such jobs with long hours and measly pay. Although we do slack, our productivity increases from the day we start working until the maximum when everyone is happy and drops after everyone becomes bored and sad.
I believe it is the inate character of teenagers to be naive and chiong towards goals set either by themselves or other people. We work well together because we are still quite innocent and are not full of those backstabbing thoughts in order to climb up the coperate ladder, since there is none anyway. I believe this is the edge we have over the older permernant staff.
We can converse freely and voice our opinion without really fearing repercussions since we are all real friends and not "real". This is the good thing without heirachy.
Aiya basically, we expected the mature staff to be able to cope with this job and perform better, but it doesn't seem so. They have difficulty using the computer software and some are slightly mentally "slow".

Work has reached a dead end and we are parting soon.
I think noel and ray are very irresponsible for being absent every other day. It is true that they contributed a lot in the beginning for sorting blazingly fast with high error rates. But i cannot help but be pissed with their working attitude, they have no regard for responsibility at all, being absent without reason as and when they like. It is not like they can do as they wish on the job, they have to give us, the other co-workers a good explanation, as we are badly affected too. We can't do our job well with them behaving like that. If i was jenn, i would be pissed like hell to employ workers like them.
As for TNT, she wants to go holiday la... no choice but to try to take long leave. Since she score so well, i guess that she should take the SATs and fatten up her portfolio. As friends i would say, do what you wish, but again it is unfair to jenn, as she broke her contract within such short notice. 'fired' 3 days before deadline seems funny, but it doesn't really make much difference.
With so many people leaving within such a short timespan, i understand it is difficult for jenn to find replacements and train them up to our pre-depression levels. Since we are already facing worsening production levels, i guess it is time for us to give up our jobs for other more energetic people.
The people who are left behind now, are genuinely able to work fast and are responsible enough to stay till now and not disappear periodically, except 1 or 2. Weird thing is, people who do not score that well are able to be more responsible and see the whole picture instead of just themselves. Indeed, we should secure our future, but act responsibly at the same time.
Just yesterday, we start having "new biz" people liasing with us and make us sort and barcode the stupid documents. I agree with xuming, the dumbest thing to do is to let us play with stickers. Those lazy buggers should have labelled and sorted before letting us scan, such that no errors will be found. They are unfriendly and rude too. I wonder wth is wrong with them. Although we are suppose to do what we are told, they should at least appreciate our work. This shows that females are not neccessarily better to work with.
Stress ar... chiong box for them to scan and sort the "new biz" stuff at the same time. Sorting "new biz" cannot rest 1 lor, zw needs to scan fast, so i must sort fast to help him meet the deadline. Although i have more or less gotten used to the sorting, i am still pissed with the need to use labels. It is a pain in the ass to find the correct labels for the documents. MOST OF ALL, sorting the documents that are alien to us. The sorting format seems to have a lot of problems, argh! I will just all put "others" la. Hack care liao, rude idots.

Argh dun feel like blogging this darn webby is so laggy
Boss has given in to our demands, and we will all probably work until 25 march only. It is a good idea as we are all too weak for army now, and the 2-3 weeks to train hard is required to tone up our bodies.
Feeling very slack now, more or less wandering aimlessly for the next few days, since my hopes has been dashed just recently (only zw knows). I shall find a new goal soon, be it the same genre or not. I have a few new aims... learn to read music scores... make sure my com is ORD when i go into army so that i can enjoy it when i want to.

IT SHOW - NUS NTU OPEN HOUSE
NUS is quite cramped in my opinion, but everything seems much closer, easily accessible and probably older. NTU seems to have been sprunced up and is more spacious and facilities are far apart, maybe it is a better place to study in since it seems quieter. NTU is really ulu sia, one of my friend commented that it looks like malaysia (o.0!).
It is obvious that NUS recieved more visitors than NTU, at NTU my dad can park his car right at the doorstep, at NUS we have to park like 500m away sia. If i get offers from both Uni, i will still choose NUS cuz it is closer and according to "slacker" the girls there are more chio (-_-!).
I have so many things that i want to buy during the IT show, but i have spent a lot already. $109 for the Norton 360 with 3 licenses,$68 for a 4GB thumb drive, $175 for an external 320GB Maxtor HDD. Now i am still interested in buying a $1699 27" Dell 1920x1080 HD monitor, and my dad is interested in buying a new com despite his frequent complaints of having no bucks.
Tomorrow will go chiong IT show again, as with every IT show... NOPE dun call me a com geek, cuz i am a com enthusiast. I think put EEE as first choice good? HAIZ sibei headache.

"Work Sucks.. I know... " do you know?
Still, jenn scold us liao but never come. Isn't ironical that you are not around to direct the people, and yet scold us for stuff that is not really our fault. Low quality scans? Its the stupid scanner... i think the scanner needs to be upgraded. She want us to chiong the production, yet the quality isn't what the client expects it to be. If it really is our fault, then let lose a torrent of complaints in 1 day? There is no warning whatsoever beforehand.

What title to put?
Aiya, talk about results and what course to go to again. But we all had no mood to work and productivity was crap. The attendance was pathethic, and we had problems making things work.
Friday, 2 March 2007
To feel sad or to rejoice?
I would say that i am relieved that its not any worse, or i had to take the other route, considering poly. I am aware that there are many others who score worse than me, but there are also many others who do better than me. I hate to compare results as i'm always on the losing end.
All that i hope for now is that i can enter the engineering faculty. I found out that engineering don't seem to be very favourable among people. But aerospace engineering is well-received. I can only blame myself for not working hard enough and let myself rot away before A levels.
Why do i choose engineering? No.1 cuz i had always wanted to improve and create stuff. No.2 its the only choice i have left. No.3 the science faculty won't want me and i am not all so theoratical. Why don't choose business? Because i can take a engineering degree before getting a masters in business administration. HOWEVER, those who do art subjects cannot cross over to science.
Crazy week
DAMN it scans and lags 5 pages worth of images before the 1st appears on the computer. HOW TO SEE ERRORS? DUMB sia this scanner. I wanna cope zw's scanner to use as i have been using shawn's for 2 days. Somehow i cannot match their productivity, and i wonder why.
It has been raining cats and dogs and chickens and cows for the past 2 days. I like rain. Just that don't rain when i'm out for lunch or going to the office of going home. Wahliew, stay in the office for 12 hours and suae suae have to be drenched for the 1hr or so. This doesn't sound right.
Am i a workaholic? I am starting to be immune to work as Zq has once said that she's used to being tired when working. I am suffering from the dreadful lack of sleep and yet still sleep late. I wonder am I immune or am I just decimating my health. Today when i finally can be tired enough to sleep... i am here blogging. It is indeed a weird world.
Everyone has been panicky about friday and here it finally comes. Some will lose sleep... some will smile in their dreams... and i will pray for a godsend. As of now, i sincerely hope i did not screw up and is able to enter a local Uni.

MORALE BOOSTER AT WORK!
Anyway, today we hit a record of 36k images, up from the average 32k. CRAZY zw, sick already still chiong so hard. He got 16k alone today... another record. 2 boxes of images are not accounted for in the figures, so i estimate 38k images. YEAH! I feel so high that we finally can meet the target.
Those figures are not reached without a price. We were practically chionging the whole of today. I wonder if my work has any quality instead of just quantity. Everyone's morale is high after hearing the announcement by jenn.
Although today felt like a long day cuz we were really just working and not really talking, the sense of achievement is damn nice.

Happy Lunar New Year TO ALL!
There has been a craze to learn cantonese at the workplace which all started with zw. I like that, as i can also learn and perfect my cantonese at the same time. Zw has tried in vain to remember the pronounciation of the words. Everyday i am almost repeating the same stuff to him. It is different from chinese "普通话“ in terms of vocab use. Not that he's stupid (X_X) , but language is difficult to learn.
Today try to buy clothing for new year. However, with xm, edwin, zw and cy i only managed to buy 1 shirt. I think it is very difficult to shop now. Must find 1 sui sui and nice clothing before buying. It must be cheap and nice to see too.
WORK
Ok after hearing the conversation between jenn and the HSBC peps, we are far behind schedule actually. However, she can't expect us to increase production as and when she pleases. We are humans you know? I shall still take my own sweet time and continue to do my approximately 4 boxes a day.

Workoholic...
However, everyday seems the same. These days we are slacker, talk more and joke more. All is well so far with my colleagues. Although the work is not exactly physically straining, the long hours really tire one out. I have been getting insufficient sleep and am damn tired.
Anyways, last saturday, my com motherboard had it' southbridge burnt and was sent for repairs. Currently, i'm living on a loaned motherboard which is good enough. It is the model i had wanted to buy initially, but was out of stock then. 1 month later, i will get back my motherboard and have fun connecting it back!
A lvl results seems to be pushed back till march.

Com died and a better work day
FED UP! Everyone else is like com idiot, and only i can fix the com in my house. I suppose they know just act blur and don't want to help me when i work like FARK and come home so late. ALL just know how to play computer games. Ask them help me... dunno dunno... WAH LAO want to teach them also dun want to listen to help me. So tomorrow my dad is forced to send the motherboard to the shop to repair.
However, at least working was fun today with Wei Jing (MSG) making jokes specifically aimed at christopher. Even when jenn came, she also joked with us. I think this is the best workday so far, as we start to understand each other better and mix around too. Even though there is only 1 girl, she was sporting and chatty. So this is good.
I finally go the hang of the scanner now, so i can scan quicker. As long as my mood is good, i am quite productive.

Overworked and underpaid
"HUH! NO OT PAY?"
"I DON'T WANT TO SCAN ALREADY!"
"WAH KAO 10 BOXES A DAY? I CAN'T EVEN DO 5"
"I want to quit already... SIBEI SIAN!"
"WAH LAO, i never expect the work to be so sian and have to do so much!"
This is hell of a lousy workplace lol.
Although we get free milo from the pantry, we are more or less constantly working. No rest, always kena push by boss, but if u feel like u can take a short break. Actually, noone took more than 3min break other than lunch. Maybe that is why it is so tiring.
There is this guy we call slacker cuz he keep trying to find ways to slack for the past few days. He is trying to stop people from calling him slacker, but he has failed lol. Try as he may,he's not making progress speeding up his work.
Haiz i myself can only do 4 boxes a day. We got 1000 to finish sia. How is it possible to ever finish the filing. I understand why boss need us to work such long hours, but it is really beyond anyone's capacity to do this kind of work. Hope i can last till the end.
NEXT FRIDAY A LEVEL RESULTS! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

First day working and filing.
Xuming say he want to practise his social skills, but only 1 girl and she's attached... train wat? LOL. Today be it lucky or wat but have 2 girls cuz 1 came from dhoby to work despite it being her off day. I agree with ZW that she looks somewhat like may. So today chionged the 7 hrs of work with the bunch of people.
However, there is more to come from monday when i continue work and through the week maybe i will find it more unbearable. I don't know why, it may be boring but there is an urge to finish a box. I think its because we want to be responsible. Although we are severely underpaid, its just not us to not be charitable right? LOL.
It is seriously production work. ZW got paper cuts, stapler injuries, cardboard.. watsoever injuries all over. But i have got none so far. Though my thumbs are both hurting due to the previous job where my nails become "longer" as the flesh goes in. Ouch...
Overall... i think i can perservere, as many people around me can do it to.. so can I!

Wow Job offers Galore
I cannot do both coz i cannot make it for the interview. Both paying $5.5/hr also, i wonder got cpf. Anyways Zheng Wen has introduced me to his exploited job and i am going to join him and xuming to be exploited.
He smsed me in the morning while i was working, and confirmed soon after. Good, i don't have to touch foam any longer, although i already got used to the working environment. Its sad to part with the workers there after a few days and they were nice people. However, its far in jurong and i simply cannot resist earning more and long term vs short term temporary.
$6.5/hr no extra for OT and work 8am-9pm on weekdays and 9am-5pm on saturday. How sad LOL. However, due to the long hours, i can safely say 1 month can hit $2000. Although we had the potential to get more pay. It is good that its at somerset, save me transport fees and more sleep.

"Yeah"... i got a 3 day temp job...
I don't know why but my finger skin cracking from the low humidity in HK is suffering more now since i am doing manual labour. I think i must put more lotion again. Haiz... pathetic fingers.
In comparison to zhengwen, i think i am better off lol. At least its 8:15am till 5.30pm and probably i need do OT tomorrow and friday. HOWEVER, i have to leave at 6am in order to reach jurong east MRT at 7.30am. Freaking early.
AHH but still it beats not working ^_^.

Back from Hong Kong with wonderful memories

Busy HK Street
Unfortunately, my stay in Hong Kong has ended. It is 10 days and although i didn't really felt interested in going to the places i went... somehow the memory was damn nice being stored in my brain.
The first 4D3N i stayed at newton inn hotel in Hong Kong Island, North Point. Its a nice location and it is close to where my relatives are staying too. So we always shuttle between the hotel and my aunt's home.
The climate averages at 16 deg C and humidity of 50-60%. The dry cold wind really cracks lips and dry hands, so some people may need lip gloss and definitely skin lotion. You also need thick jackets. Any of the jacket you can buy in singapore except those meant for cold countries... i can confidently say that none of them will be enough.

A large room with a dining area too. And i sleep on the sofa bed.

Dining area.

The bedroom.

View from my Hotel window... a view of the harbour.
Hong Kong's land is expensive and so are the costs of a home. Therefore, my auntie lives in a studio apartment. But her home's facilities are far better than that of a hotel, as we can cook and use internet. So i msn home and converse with my family in Singapore for free, using the internet. Haha, no exorbitant prices from starhub or HK telecom compaines.
After that, i moved to my eldest Uncle's home and spend the rest of the 6 days there. The room i sleep in is constantly 20 deg C. Pure air-con sia... and of course i need to tuck myself under a quilt blanket an inch thick. Everyday, i soak in the bathtub ahh... sibei shiok.
For your info, eating middle class is cheaper in HK than in singapore. Even if you yumcha in a restaurant, it averages at S$8/person. If you go to those very high class one, maybe S$15/person or so. Man, why we have to pay so much in singapore. There is a food outlet called "cafe de coral" which offers food at the cost of between macdonalds and pastamania. The food is quite good too.
I got a tourist 24Hr ride all you can ticket on the MTR ( = singapore MRT). So i rode to the ends of the lines.

A Guide
- Tung Chung has factory outlets of nike.. adidas.. levis.. oh cheap goods. And you can visit Mr Buddha from here. Btw the cable car is HK88 for a return trip.. don't pay travel agencies to let u pay more.
- Tsuen Wan has nothing much... just like anywhere in HK.
- Kwun Tang has a shopping centre and toys 'r' us but its pretty much useless too unless you like seeing schools.
- Po Lam has a big shopping centre with many branded labels with damn cool discounts. If you don't like Causeway Bay and Wanchai squeeze i suggest Po Lam.
- Causeway Bay and Wanchai is good shopping outlets like SOGO and others.
- I went to Jordon... MongKok... YauMaTei... TsimShaTsui all these are tourist areas at kowloon. However, especially good places are the 男人街 & 女人街 (not exact street names)... a street for shoes too... and of course 庙街.
- ShamSuiPo - Apuliu street is good for shopping for toys and electronics... man damn cheap toys. I saw RC submarines going for S$10 and S$40. RC ships, planes and helicopters.. from as cheap as S$20 till S$300+.
All these are mainly the places i went.
I went to see Mr Buddha too. But he played tricks on me. On top of the mountain was cold.. about 13 deg C i presume... and high humidity. So when i talk, there was a mist! Albeit like those korean drama those people talking during the winter.
Now you see Buddha.
Now you don't.
Show your determination to Buddha.
Monkeys they put in a souveir shop.. damn retarded right?
Your fastest (25min) transport to buddha.
I went to Stanley, Repulse Bay (浅水湾)and past 深水湾。
Stanley's waterfront.
Repulse Bay: Goddess of mercy.. fengshui says you should touch her feet with both hands.
I tried to take shots of Hong Kong's raffles place - Central. But the fog set in and made my shots shitty.
Yuck... isit smog?

Boardgames at my house and cheating little children..
well its actually just RISK and MONOPOLY.
I think boardgames are cool to bond people but not so often... as we got bored after a while. Then as my bro was making his own rules in monopoly... the rest of the spastic people unleashed their childish behaviour and totally messed up the game. Fortunately i wasn't playing or else i might go mad. I wonder whats wrong with them maybe they drank alcohol to be so "high" while playing a boardgame.
Fortunately, my bro is not so dumb as to be tricked by them. Yingxia was laughing so badly.. ziqian was acting dumb and zw was hiding his smirking face... BOTTOMLINE... crazy.
They left quite late.. close to 12 and i wondered how long they waited b4 the taxi came... anyway... it started to rain cats and dogs soon after they left... did they become souped up chickens?
I think my temp job is a painter...
Actually i think its quite retarded to use an exterior paint for the interior. But i got a whole bucket and i mean BUCKET of it. I suppose its 50 litres of the paint. As a result, my stairwell now has a white ceiling and many parts of the house too. I am itching to paint my room, but it was only done 2 years ago... i'm lazy doing it too.
After today i still have to paint my dad's room. I wonder if i should do it. Its taking up so much of my time and i am not very pleased to end my holidays painting walls. I got better things to do than painting walls.
Recently just the last week, i have a thirst for playing BF2142. Probably coz i unlocked a lot of stuff that helps me to kill people and i feel satisfied lol. No longer getting pawned by others continously. Gaming is wasting time... but its not really that bad actually.

Operation "paint my room"
Day 1 i learnt my lesson and went out to buy some tape. I painted 4 cupboard doors and 5 drawers. Damn the carpenter, why put a design on the cupboard that is so difficult to paint. It is probably difficult to cut too.
It is already day 2 today and i have completed 65% of the stuff. If you are wondering why it requires 3 days, its because each day i can only do so much within 6 hours. Sleep late, after lunch then start work. C'mon i don't want to eat with paint on my hands. And morning hours are good time to slack and surf the net. Another reason is so that the paint is dry enough for me to put the doors back before i sleep.
Man its difficult task, i should had done it when zw and xuming came to help. It was a far cry from the boring grey that was the original colour. Hmm once i finish painting the whole cupboard then i shall post a pic.

Yet another day that drifted by without encountering fig 11.
This is 3rd hand story only, so it shd be quite accurate. They were supposed to fall in at night and one of his bunkmates saw a small boy wearing SVO while none of them are wearing while falling in. (o.0) unidentifed fig 11. There are many army and UF(ig.11)O encounters also. As a note of sarcasm, he sleeps next to the window. His greatest fear now is encountering fig.11 in the middle of the night. Now shall we all help him to pray? i think an amulet is insufficient.
Now back to my boring life.. played hours of BF2142 today though i haven really been playing it throughout the holiday extensively. Watched 2 DVD movies. This is not uber cool slack living. This is tormentation due to lack of activity.
As a personal promise, i shall paint my cupboard tomorrow. Its time to do something and stop doing nuts.

Life sux and its becoz of unemployment
Freaking bored.. just got new supply of movies and anime. They will at most last me this week before i exhaust them again. I think this kind of life sux.. but no choice.. all buddies are working and i cannot spend money leh... earn kosong spend like nuts... thats no way to live a life.
My resolution to paint my cupboard havent materialise. Got time to do nuts.. so i did nuts. I wonder if you have a scientific name for slacking involuntarily. I shall proclaim myself as "unfair unemployment". While others pray not to work.. or have a slacker job, i pray that i get a portion of their burden so they can create employment for me. So i can do inefficient work at the same time.

Unforgettable Lan experience
I cannot be sure what type of snake it was, but i presume its a juvenile python. We spend quite some time at 4am catching the python, which ends up seeking refuge in my store room. Its a labyrinth, and its almost impossible to catch that tiny weeny snake.
So we carried on our lan till day break and slept a while before continuing. I find it weird, by cy become attracted towards CS lol. He was quite sian of it actually, but dunno y we played it for almost the whole of the event. PISTOL FIGHT! thats wat we hear most of the time..
Welcome 2007... be gone 2006
No alcohol no partying at my house ^_^. No bad hangovers, just a sleepless night. I am not the partying kind of person.. so attending Zouk out or countdown.. i dun think its interesting. Maybe if i go with a big group of people it will be more fun... but this kind of lifestyle... not me.
2006 has past, and the forecoming of 2007 reminds me that i am on the way to become a BOTAK. And of course, 1 1/2 months since the end of A lvls. I dun wanna get my results nor work already. Sian 1/2 find job job dun want me.
Wats there to reflect for 2006? Damn i wasted a year of my life not mugging. I think the rest of my life is going to be in deep shit. Hope 2007 will be a much better year.
