SHIFTS! yeah SHIFTS! FINALLY! GOODBYE 8am - 9pm work schedule! Kudos to XM who blurted out our discontent to jenn's daughter... who tipped off her mother and she 自动 ask us if we want to have shifts instead. But i will still work full-day for some days to earn the bucks. Good that we can rest once a while after chionging so hard.
Anyway, today we hit a record of 36k images, up from the average 32k. CRAZY zw, sick already still chiong so hard. He got 16k alone today... another record. 2 boxes of images are not accounted for in the figures, so i estimate 38k images. YEAH! I feel so high that we finally can meet the target.
Those figures are not reached without a price. We were practically chionging the whole of today. I wonder if my work has any quality instead of just quantity. Everyone's morale is high after hearing the announcement by jenn.
Although today felt like a long day cuz we were really just working and not really talking, the sense of achievement is damn nice.

Happy Lunar New Year TO ALL!
The year of the pig has arrived. But no, its not for all you "笨猪“ to sleep and slack around, as zw likes to say "我是笨猪“ in cantonese.
There has been a craze to learn cantonese at the workplace which all started with zw. I like that, as i can also learn and perfect my cantonese at the same time. Zw has tried in vain to remember the pronounciation of the words. Everyday i am almost repeating the same stuff to him. It is different from chinese "普通话“ in terms of vocab use. Not that he's stupid (X_X) , but language is difficult to learn.
Today try to buy clothing for new year. However, with xm, edwin, zw and cy i only managed to buy 1 shirt. I think it is very difficult to shop now. Must find 1 sui sui and nice clothing before buying. It must be cheap and nice to see too.
WORK
Ok after hearing the conversation between jenn and the HSBC peps, we are far behind schedule actually. However, she can't expect us to increase production as and when she pleases. We are humans you know? I shall still take my own sweet time and continue to do my approximately 4 boxes a day.

Workoholic...
More than a week has passed since i started working and has earned $600. Man thats puny pay for numerous sacrifices. No life! YES YOU SEE IT. No life! I think i have complained quite enough about the job.
However, everyday seems the same. These days we are slacker, talk more and joke more. All is well so far with my colleagues. Although the work is not exactly physically straining, the long hours really tire one out. I have been getting insufficient sleep and am damn tired.
Anyways, last saturday, my com motherboard had it' southbridge burnt and was sent for repairs. Currently, i'm living on a loaned motherboard which is good enough. It is the model i had wanted to buy initially, but was out of stock then. 1 month later, i will get back my motherboard and have fun connecting it back!
A lvl results seems to be pushed back till march.

Com died and a better work day
My com died on me 2 days ago suddenly, shutting down without warning. So now, i guess i have no choice but to send it for repairs. I suspect it is the motherboard as when i change the power supply, it still did not work. I just tried by stripping everything out and starting it up. Unfortunately, it did not work too.
FED UP! Everyone else is like com idiot, and only i can fix the com in my house. I suppose they know just act blur and don't want to help me when i work like FARK and come home so late. ALL just know how to play computer games. Ask them help me... dunno dunno... WAH LAO want to teach them also dun want to listen to help me. So tomorrow my dad is forced to send the motherboard to the shop to repair.
However, at least working was fun today with Wei Jing (MSG) making jokes specifically aimed at christopher. Even when jenn came, she also joked with us. I think this is the best workday so far, as we start to understand each other better and mix around too. Even though there is only 1 girl, she was sporting and chatty. So this is good.
I finally go the hang of the scanner now, so i can scan quicker. As long as my mood is good, i am quite productive.

Overworked and underpaid
Complains are springing up around the office...
"HUH! NO OT PAY?"
"I DON'T WANT TO SCAN ALREADY!"
"WAH KAO 10 BOXES A DAY? I CAN'T EVEN DO 5"
"I want to quit already... SIBEI SIAN!"
"WAH LAO, i never expect the work to be so sian and have to do so much!"
This is hell of a lousy workplace lol.
Although we get free milo from the pantry, we are more or less constantly working. No rest, always kena push by boss, but if u feel like u can take a short break. Actually, noone took more than 3min break other than lunch. Maybe that is why it is so tiring.
There is this guy we call slacker cuz he keep trying to find ways to slack for the past few days. He is trying to stop people from calling him slacker, but he has failed lol. Try as he may,he's not making progress speeding up his work.
Haiz i myself can only do 4 boxes a day. We got 1000 to finish sia. How is it possible to ever finish the filing. I understand why boss need us to work such long hours, but it is really beyond anyone's capacity to do this kind of work. Hope i can last till the end.

First day working and filing.
Ok finally entered the titanic with xuming and zhengwen. Sunken boat sia, with reference to zhengwen's blog. Working the same job as them in a office with has open concept with no privacy. So the environment is as described by zw... including me will be 8 guys 1 girl and 1 lady.
Xuming say he want to practise his social skills, but only 1 girl and she's attached... train wat? LOL. Today be it lucky or wat but have 2 girls cuz 1 came from dhoby to work despite it being her off day. I agree with ZW that she looks somewhat like may. So today chionged the 7 hrs of work with the bunch of people.
However, there is more to come from monday when i continue work and through the week maybe i will find it more unbearable. I don't know why, it may be boring but there is an urge to finish a box. I think its because we want to be responsible. Although we are severely underpaid, its just not us to not be charitable right? LOL.
It is seriously production work. ZW got paper cuts, stapler injuries, cardboard.. watsoever injuries all over. But i have got none so far. Though my thumbs are both hurting due to the previous job where my nails become "longer" as the flesh goes in. Ouch...
Overall... i think i can perservere, as many people around me can do it to.. so can I!

Wow Job offers Galore
During the 3 day temp job, i received 2 offers to work in jurong area as a production worker. However, 1 is every thur only and another is 2 months at a MNC in Jurong International Business Park (IBP).
I cannot do both coz i cannot make it for the interview. Both paying $5.5/hr also, i wonder got cpf. Anyways Zheng Wen has introduced me to his exploited job and i am going to join him and xuming to be exploited.
He smsed me in the morning while i was working, and confirmed soon after. Good, i don't have to touch foam any longer, although i already got used to the working environment. Its sad to part with the workers there after a few days and they were nice people. However, its far in jurong and i simply cannot resist earning more and long term vs short term temporary.
$6.5/hr no extra for OT and work 8am-9pm on weekdays and 9am-5pm on saturday. How sad LOL. However, due to the long hours, i can safely say 1 month can hit $2000. Although we had the potential to get more pay. It is good that its at somerset, save me transport fees and more sleep.
