Long weekend? Why does it still feel so short?

I am having a holiday from work well sort of from 20-25 dec. Almost everyday i am out from afternoon till midnight. Why does it still feel so short? It is just because when you are happy time pass faster? Or isit not satisfactory? I don't know.

The short 1 week at work has made me understand how to behave more ike a sergeant. As the saying goes, sergeants practically spend all their time interacting with the recruits, while officers do most of the admin work. As such, we also see all the good, the bad and the ugly of our men. I am currently taking an intake with low education levels and i was actually quite surprised it is not as bad as i thought.

Well, they can understand english, not totally Hokkien Peng. Or i suppose, they act like they know what we are saying even though they do not understand. The first 2 week, we are always up there at their bunks doing standardisation for standbys. At first i thought the more educated ones are more prone to be blur. E.G. Zw once told me this story of a supposedly damn smart RJ student. "Er sergeant, got manual to strip and assemble rifle?" But no, there are also those who are damn blur or act blur, huh? among the less educated.

Why i say they blur? They never seem to be able to follow instructions even when i REPEAT, give 1 step by 1 step instructions. Or maybe they just refuse to listen to instructions of which they should be duly punished after a proper investigation ^_^.
Thankfully, they are generally streetsmart and don't 得纯进尺 too much. I believe we have been good sergeants as we try to leave them alone as much as possible.

Admin time is admin time, do away with all the formalities and we can talk. Training time is when we demand them to meet our standards. They do have many different attitudes and i need to treat each of them differently. Some of them had attitude problems, thinking this is their grandpa's army. But by the end of the 2nd week, i can see a remarkable improvement in some of their attitudes. Is it because of the fear of confinement? Haha.

Soon i will have to return to the line of duty. Haiz. As a sergeant or a recruit we still look forward to bookouts. Isn't it ironic? Haha.
