There are so many damn theories about the affairs of the hearts and yet, none can really apply to everyone all the time. Humans are just so complicated that one can never totally understand another. LOLZ even i don't totally understand myself, how to understand the others?
However, I have some theories that might just apply.
1. The old curry puff theory (credits to prof Fong)
Some analogy linked to the sales of curry puff which was surprisingly linked to old chang kee. People always demand new stuff which are hot from the oven, especially food. Hence, it is not surprising that when you see a lone curry puff left on the tray, you would wait for a new batch to come and select from there! This means that the poor old curry puff is obscured from view and forgotten.
Ok now here is the optimistic view, mingling around the new curry puff, the old curry puff gets a new lease of life and a second chance, warmed up by the new curry puffs and becomes platable again. Albeit not as fresh, but still edible. Therefore, I feel that as long as you are mingling with people and making new friends, there will never be a chao seng curry puff.
2. People will not join a new group of unisex friends unless they have a common interest (e.g. sports, food, studies) or a romantic interest with someone inside even though they might not end up together.
The inital romantic interest might not lead on to them being couples later, but still it is a starting point for the formation of friendships and ultimately even best friends. Of course, it is also due to common interests that lead one to understand the other better, such that an interest may develop.
This theory has a loophole, as there are also people who makes friends purely for companionship. Whereby you only see the other as a friend from the start, with no romantic interest. However, this companion usually becomes a great friend as you can only ever share the secrets with this companion and not the others in the group if you have romantic interest with the others from the start. This is kinda sad for the companion though, as the more secrets you share, it might lead to a development in interest and lead to a 1-sided interest.
3. When shit is stirred between a guy and a girl, and they guy does not dislike the girl, he will tend to notice her more and may eventually develop a romantic interest. However, if there is a dislike in the first place, the shit stirring will be detrimental to the relationship and eventually even drive them apart. ( credits to Huangs )
This is especially true and from the various case studies that we have seen and I have seen. As shit stirring can be the initation required to get things going. It can get you to start noticing the other person and discover potentially nice things about the person when you never did notice in the past.
However, it can also be detrimental when either party starts to get irritated. When people are irritated, they will tend to ignore everything and even focus on the negative comments. This drives people apart and ultimately even end the friendship.
4. It is irresponsible to be kind to everyone
When you are too kind to everyone, it can be misleading to an individual. Initially, the individual might think that there is something going on. However, when comparing oneself to the others, they realise that they are receiving the same treatment as everyone.
Well, with time all misunderstandings will clear up, but a person with this character will most likely remain an old curry puff because people become frustrated when someone is misleading. Who can confirm the reason behind your actions? Romantic or friendly?
However, i feel such people makes great friends because their small little actions, damn BHB or acting dumb just makes your day. Laughter is the best medicine.
I guess there will be more theories next time, but this is just a few that i remembered and did some analysis on. BACK TO MUGGING!
